About Priti Gupta

Born and raised in Mumbai, India, having acquired a degree in Physical Therapy, Priti always followed her heart and immersed herself in her passion for dance and education.

With over 18+ years of experience, having taught 7500+ students from 3-80 years of age along with making a mark in television / film choreography, winning Boogie Woogie and reality shows like Jhalak Dikhla Jaa & India's Got Talent, she has travelled to over 20 countries to represent India in DanceSport and is recognized as one of the top celebrated dance experts from India.

The Beginning

Priti started dancing at an early age of 6. As a disciple of Guru Smt. Heena Shah, she earned a Masters Diploma in Bharatanatyam from Bharatiya Sangeet Samiti and soon after her Arangetram, started teaching under her Guru's guidance. Learning never stops and Priti continues to advance her knowledge in Bharatanatyam, Nattuvangam skills and Carnatic music, with various teachers and experts from Kalakshetra and other renowned institutions :

Guru Siva Prasad NN, Kalamandalam Karthika H, Guru Hemanth Lekshman, Rishi Raj and Shravan Kumar.

She also trained with flamenco experts Rosana Maya and Ingrid Schiberras from Alegria Malta.

DanceSport Journey

While in med school pursuing physical therapy, Priti was smitten by the world of Latin & Ballroom Dancing and soon earned the title of the 'First Indian representing India at a World DanceSport Championship in Singapore and the Indoor Asian Games in 2006'. Bhavdeep Pandya and Mrs. Jaya Bachchan, Kavita Kapoor, Sandip Soparrkar and top designers Hemant Trivedi, Aba-Sandeep and Neeta Lulla blessed with a generous sponsorship in various areas.

There was no looking back from there, Priti spun her way to the top of her game doing championships and training with world champions in Hungary, UK, Boston, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Hongkong, South Africa and more. With teachers like Maurizio, Lorna & Michael, Marion Lane, Andras Faluvegi, Dave Paris, Priti gained expertise in over 20 different dance forms in her 20s, including Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba, Jive, Paso Doble, Argentine Tango, Waltz, Foxtrot, Salsa, Bachata, Hustle, Swing, Merengue, Vienneze Waltz, Bharatanatyam, Bollywood, Indian Folk Dances, Country Dancing, Line Dancing, Flamenco .....and the journey continued...

The Bollywood Industry

Bollywood happened to Priti by chance. While choreographing for movies, music albums and ad films, Priti's journey has been very starry.

Working with stars like Dino Morea, Pooja Bhatt, Kajol, Onjalee Nair, Kabir Kapoor, Suchitra Krishnamurthy, Neena Gupta, Adhyayan Suman, Sushant Singh Rajput, Vidyut Jamwal, Siddharth Malhotra, Javed Jafri, Saroj Khan, Malaika Arora, Remo Fernandes, Shiamak Davar, Alyque Padamsee, Pony Verma, Renuka Shahane, and many more artists was an exhilarating time for Priti.

Priti was starring with Shekhar Suman on Jhalak Dikhla Jaa (Dancing with the Stars) on SONY under BBC Worlwide

She was the head of Creative Strategy while building the platform 'Dance With Madhuri' collaborating with Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Dr. Shriram Nene

A key choreographer on the 'Dance With Madhuri' platform and showcased regularly on TATASky.

Priti made it to the Limca Book of Records for dancing non-stop for 55-hrs and 15mins.

She has won at various Latin DanceSport championships in Sri Lanka, Hungary, UK and Boston amongst others.

She won on Boogie-Woogie Championship and was a key performer on India's Got Talent and the Aishwarya-Abhishek Bachchan Wedding.

Founder of the DanceSport Association of Maharashtra and DanceSport India, the first dance company teaching and promoting authentic DanceSport in the country.

And Now...

Since 2014, she is now settled in Northern Virginia with her beautiful family, continuing to share her passion by creating a sanctuary for dance : Saanwee Performing Arts.

With motherhood grew immense love and joy in her heart and Priti decided to continue sharing her blessing of dance and Indian culture here in the US.

Having worked with known companies in US : Born2Dance, Jersey City Ballroom, DanceSport Manhattan and Elegant Dancing, she established Saanwee Performing Arts in 2015.

Her sanctuary Saanwee Performing Arts is a place where you can dive into her deep knowledge and love for dance and culture, no matter if you are a beginner or advanced learner. Priti prefers to teach all her classes herself, but keeps her availability limited for the real seekers!
