At what age can my child or I start learning with Saanwee?

Your child can start as early as 4.5 years of age.

How is Kathak different from Bharatnatyam?

Kathak feels like flowing poetry in motion, while Bharatanatyam feels like a powerful, sculpted expression of rhythm and devotion. Both forms are equally rich—choosing one often depends on whether you resonate more with fluid grace or structured precision.

Do you take complete beginners?

Yes, absolutely! Our foundation level is designed for beginners. We start with basic adavus (steps), hand gestures, rhythm patterns, and simple expressions before moving to choreography and performance.

Do students get to perform on stage?

Yes! We host dance recitals 2-3 times a year where students perform and showcase what they’ve learned. Advanced students may also perform in local cultural festivals and community events (optional).

Are performances mandatory?

Not mandatory — but encouraged! Performing helps children gain confidence, discipline, and joy in sharing their art.

When do students start using ghungroo?

Usually after building basic rhythm and footwork, so they can handle the added weight and sound control. Their teacher will guide them once they are ready.

How is progress evaluated?

Through regular practice, informal assessments, and annual graded exams.

What should my child wear for class?

Comfortable clothing that allows free movement — preferably a Saanwee T-shirt with dupatta given to you at the time of registration, that is paired with leggings. Hair should be neatly tied back.

What if my child misses a class?

We understand that schedules can be unpredictable. If your child misses a class, we offer makeup options within the same package whenever possible.
