Carnatic Music Workshop
with Visiting Guru Siva Prasad NN

A rare opportunity for students to experience the beauty of Carnatic music directly from a visiting Guru from India.
 

Join us for an enriching and interactive session with renowned Carnatic vocalist Guru Siva Prasad NN, who brings over 40 years of experience in classical music performance and training. This workshop is specially designed for both beginners and Bharatanatyam dancers, helping students deepen their understanding of music, rhythm, and classical arts in an engaging and accessible way.

About Guru Siva Prasad NN

Guru Siva Prasad NN is a distinguished Carnatic vocalist from Kerala, India, with over four decades of performance and teaching experience. Born into a family of musicians, he trained under eminent Gurus in both Carnatic and Sopaanam traditions.

​

He has performed extensively as a solo artist and accompanying vocalist for Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathakali, and Mohiniattam performances across India and internationally. His work has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards and honors, and he has also been featured on All India Radio and Doordarshan.

Known for his soulful voice, depth of knowledge, and engaging teaching style, Guru Siva Prasad NN brings a rich and authentic learning experience for students of all ages.

Workshop Options

🎶 Workshop 1 – Beginners / Non-Dancers

11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

A joyful introduction to Carnatic music for young learners and beginners.
 

Students will:

  • Learn a simple Carnatic Geetam (song)

  • Explore basic Swaras (Sa Re Ga Ma)

  • Practice simple Tala (rhythm) through claps

  • Experience fun group singing and vocal exercises
     

👉 No prior music or dance experience needed.

💃 Workshop 2 – Bharatanatyam Dancers

12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

A specially curated session for Bharatanatyam students to better understand the connection between dance and music.

​

Students will:

  • Learn portions of Kalyani Jatiswaram (singing + structure)

  • Practice Sollukattu (jatis) recitation

  • Explore the Sapta Tala system

  • Understand tala structures through claps and rhythmic exercises

​

Recommended for intermediate and advanced                Bharatanatyam students
